About Lauren

Lauren the artist

I am inspired by time and how it is ceaseless. Whether I’m painting ocean waves crashing endlessly on the beach, capturing flowers in full bloom, or painting a hummingbird that is always in motion. These moments are a permanent representation of God’s own great masterpiece.

Like most artists, I love creating something beautiful from nothing. My passions are watercolor, acrylic painting, resin art, and I enjoy designing jewelry. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always made gifts for family and friends because, to me, a handmade gift carries more meaning than anything store bought.

I’d like to inspire others to express their creative side and make something beautiful, with only  paper and paint. Everyone is an artist at heart, and there are many different ways to express it. Whether it’s painting, music, gardening, carpentry, photography, or just enjoying nature, art comes in many forms.

Born and raised on the sunny (and often foggy) coast of California, I grew up loving the sea – the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, orange sunsets over the ocean, collecting seashells, and summers at my grandparents’ ranch in San Simeon, behind Hearst Castle.

Which explains why I love painting ocean scenes. Plus, what’s not to love about scenic ocean sunsets, beautiful blooming flowers, trees moving in the breeze, birds and other animals in their natural environment? Art is a big part of that, because it is in everything, everywhere, and a reflection of God’s beauty here on earth.

My grandmother, Mary Cole, was a professional artist in Cambria, California, and often dragged me along to her painting workshops when I was a child. She’d put paper, paint and a brush in front me to keep me busy, while she herself was painting her next masterpiece.

After she passed in 2003, I inherited several of her paintings, and recently decided to professionally photograph them and make prints available to order.

I hope you enjoy my artwork (and my Grandmother’s), and I’m excited to have you join me as I embark on this new chapter in my life.
